Oliver Sacks kept a sign in his office to remind him to say no to invitations so he could write more.
I do the same thing. It’s easy to forget that NO is an option— in fact, a default— in corresponding on text, email, slack etc. It’s something that should live in your space.
I personally have it taped to the top of my computer monitor at eye-level, so I can’t miss it every morning when I log on to check my emails.
Grab a sticky note. Grab a pen. Wrote NO. Leave it up for the rest of the year and see how good December gets.
Remember, NO Takes Practice.
Baby Steps.
‘til tomorrow.
